2003 in dash cd player/controls to a 2000

I was just wondering if it's possible to take out the in dash cd player/climate controls in a Ford Taurus 2003 and switch it with a in dash tape deck/climate controls from a Taurus 2000.

You see I'm driving the 2000 Ford Taurus and my dad has the 2003. He doesn't use the cd player, and i'd be interested in it. We bought a tool to pull the systems out, thinking we could just swap the two. When it came time to plug them in, the cables were different.

I hope this makes sense, any advice would be appreciated!

Plugs

If the plugs don't match, I would whole heartedly advise against it. I tried to install a retractable radio antenna on my '02 from a wagon and encountered nothing but grief. Unless you can re-engineer the device, is best to console yourself with the way it was made.

Does the 2002 Taurus have a "fused" heating/cooling and radio/cd panel? What kind of tool is needed to pull it? My CD-Player won't play CDs for whatever reason and I'd like to pull it and see if I can fix it myself.
