93 camry vents problem

My 93 camry suddenly stopped shooting air out of the 2 main vents on the dashboard. I set it on floor and that and it shoots air out of the floor and the vents for the defroster at the windshield. this is sudden, it hasnt done this before. I tried changing all the circulation buttons but its as though those two are blocked and nothing comes out of them. not fresh air or a/c or circulated air. I get nothing. but like i said it shoots fine everywhere else. if anyone knows anything about this i would appreciate some input as i am completely confused by this.

Re: 93 camry vents problem

Hmm. I'm a newcomer to Camrys, having only just acquired one. But most modern autos use vacuum to control the various functions of the ventilation system. It's probably a "behind the dash" job, but it's possible that a vacuum line has come loose somewhere (although, honestly, I'd have expected that to cause more problems than you describe).

Cool

They open & close / redirect the airflow with small motors with an arm on it.

Check to make sure the control for the vent is working (I'm not sure where it is for the center vent)
Pull the vent out & check for blockage (It's a major B, but they just pull straight out).
Check the cabin air filter & make sure there is no blockage/closed filter (remove driver's right kick panel & open the filter cover)

It's probably the control for it, but I'm not exactly sure where it is. It is electromechanical tho.

I have the exact same problem with my 93 camry. If you were able to figure out what it is/how to fix it, please let me know!

I searched the forums for other threads on this problem (seems to be fairly common; there are a lot of threads), and I found this thread talking about how another person fixed his.

I'll try it myself next time I have enough time/a free day and I'll say how it goes.

Just for info, I also found this thread.
