Question TOD light is out/Tranny problem?

I noticed today, on my 01 trooper, that the TOD light, indicating that I am in normal 2wd (just the bottom tires light), is out. Also the she is running rough from 35 to about 50 mph during normal acceleration. I'm not sure if these things are related. I have my tranny fluid changed and checked at reg. intervals, but have not ever had my transfer case fluid checked or changed, I also rarely use fwd. On the indicating lights, the rest of the lights work when you intially start up. Also, the car seems to shift fine from 1 - 2 - 3 and so on. Its just when I get to 35-40 to 50 its rough and kind of hesitates. I appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Garrettpace

Re: TOD light is out/running funny

The two things that come to mind, are:

1. Intake manifold gasket

2. low tranny fluid level

But these both will not cause the TOD lights to lite up.....

garrett I had the check TOD light come on and changed the transfer case oil a couple of times and it took care of the problem. I don't know if that will work for you but the transfer case fluid must be changed wether you drive in 4wheel or not. There are sensors galore on that engine/tranny, and somehow fluids play a role with some.
