Question Illumination On Power Mirror Direction Switch??

Hello,
I have a question regarding a 1996 2DR Chevy Blazer V6 4.3 Vortec.

I would like to know on the power mirror direction control switch, Is the light that illuminates the switch inside the switch itself or it coming from the wiring that is plugged into it?

I can't seem to trace down the light I know it has one because I watch it flicker after hitting a nasty pothole and after shutting the truck off it hasn't come back on sense. I took the switch out and those little white plugs that contact the board to move the mirror fell all over ground so i got a good look inside of it before putting it back together and never seen any type of bulb.

I decided to go to the dealer and ask them, but those guys don't know jack shit! The part mechanic said it could be coming from the switch or from somewhere else inside the box. Then he said why don't you give it a try it's only $68?

I will most likely go to the local boneyard for the part. If I can find out which one I need.

Thanks, Rick

Probably within the switch. If the switch is working properly, don't replace it becuase the light is not working.

So you can replace just the bulbs? I thought they were part of the board in the switch... Man I really need to buy some car books because I just ordered another switch ......

Re: Illumination On Power Mirror Direction Switch??

Hello,
How do you remove the white backing of the switch? It seems the L-R Knob in the middle of the switch is stopping me from pulling the back off. When I shake the switch I can hear something rattling around in there I'm thinking the bulbs just aren't seated anymore.

Thanks, Rick
