Hit & Run, partial tag number

A guy hit my car with his car and ran away in Columbus, Ohio.
I only could note last 4 digits of his license plate number. I called the police and called my insurnace company.

Now i'm supposed to pay $500 deductible while rest will be paid by my insurance company to fix the damage.

My question is there any way i could track that guy so that he should pay for the damges. For example, usuallay tag number in ohio is like
ABC 3344. Now i only know 3344 but not sure what the first 3 characters are. Any idea or help will be really appreitated as i will not have to pay for the mistake some other person made. Thanks

Call the cops and see what they can do. If you have the partial tag number and make and model of the car they might be able to track the guy down (assuming his car is registered).

Yeah, if you got the make, model, and color, I don't see why they couldn't at least try.

Re: Re: Hit & Run, partial tag number

First, thanks very much for taking time to read and reply to my question.
Unfortunately, i donot know the make and model of car. I just noted color of car and partial tag number.

I asked the police officer is there any way you guys can trak him ?. Officer said there might be hundred of cars with information i have and it will be difficult to track that guy down. Then he said donot worry your insurance compnay will pay for the damage.

But i'm paying $500 deductible plus assuming my premium will go up.

Thanks
