Removing EGR valve

Do anyone have any idea on how to remove the EGR valve from the post it sits on? The bolt holding the egr is 1 1/16, and there is no way to get a wrench in that little space. I was wondering if anyone knows what has to be removed in order to remove the egr. One more thing is there anyway to remove the cradle that holds the battery? I have a 1995 Lincoln continental with the 4.6 liter V-8.

Thank you but that does not work for me, because my egr is on the driver's side.

OK, fair enough..
Since we now know which car were talking about, I'll bet the 1996
service text is same for 1995... -- Here's the 1996 text...

EGR Valve


Removal

1. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve.

2. With a 22 mm crowfoot wrench, completely loosen the top EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube nut from EGR valve.

3. Remove two EGR valve retaining bolts from EGR valve and EGR valve gasket from intake manifold.


Installation

1. Clean intake manifold sealing surface with a plastic-tipped scraper to remove any residual EGR valve gasket material.

2. Position EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube into EGR valve and loosely connect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube nut to EGR valve.

3. Install new EGR valve gasket and bolts retaining EGR valve to intake manifold. Tighten bolts to 20-30 N-m (15-22 lb-ft).

4. Tighten EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube nut at EGR valve to 40-45 N-m (30-33 lb-ft).

5. Connect vacuum hose to EGR valve.






As for the Battery Tray, I'll lay odds it's the same as 1996 too...

Battery Tray


Removal and Installation

1. WARNING: THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE ANY AIR BAG COMPONENT IS SERVICED. TO DEPLETE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, MAKE SURE THAT THE LAST START BATTERY SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION (IF EQUIPPED), THEN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE FOLLOWED BY THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

Note: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal driving symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) relearns its fuel trim. The vehicle may need to be driven 18 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the fuel trim.

Note: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, volatile memory information will be lost. The affected systems will have to be programmed by the technician or customer. These systems include radio stations presets, clock settings, seat memory, mirror memory, window memory and customer input keyless entry codes.

Remove battery from vehicle as outlined.

2. Remove battery insulation from battery tray.

3. Release retaining clips from power distribution box and remove power distribution box from battery tray and position power distribution box aside.

4. Remove battery tray retaining nut from LH front fender apron.

5. Remove battery tray retaining bolt from air filter housing bracket.

6. Remove air intake hose from air filter housing and position aside.

7. Remove two battery tray retaining bolts from inner fender. Bolts are located at lowest edge of battery tray.

8. Remove one battery tray retaining bolt, located between battery tray and air filter housing under battery to starter relay cable and lift out battery tray.

9. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten battery tray bolts and nut to 8-12 N-m (6-9 lb-ft). Tighten battery tray hold-down bracket bolt to 7-10 N-m (6-7 lb-ft).

for future help what i used for my 96 continental was i bought a 1 1/16" wrench I cut it in half and used it to loosen the nut. theres not enough space for an adjustable and crows foot in that size are kind of expensive
