R7

anyone know why we don't have the r7? would be nice to have another option besides a gixxer 750. don't get me wrong, i have nothing against the gixxer, but having another alternative would be great.

it was race track only bike, basically the closest Japanese superbike that ever went into production. had all trick stuff, like ohlins suspension, lighter magensium wheels, race-ready, and possibly damper. And fuel injection (first for Yamaha). limited to around 500, cost about $32K and the buyer must present a racing resume. and then the owner needed a $5-10K race kit to unleash the intended full power, which was around 150 rwhp at the time. handled like race bike, much superior than R1. it was mostly used for racing, track days, and guys with connections decided to make a museum around it next to ducatis and mv agustas.

they're very rare at the states, but second hand are available and don't need racing resume if you have connection and money.

Re: R7

There are a few R7s out there, but good luck finding one. On top of that if you do find one good luck getting someone to part with it.

Re: R7

There's a husband and wife locally that both ride pristine R7's. They ride them somewhat hard too. I'd be terrified of even the most minor of lowsides riding something that expensive and rare. I'll see if I can dig up a few pictures for shits and giggles.
