04 mustang key will not start car but you can turn to run and jump starter car runs fine . does any one know what the security key does when it is broken or wrong code?

Not quite sure what that is all about, but it may be your starter solenoid is out or alternator or neutral safety switch

you have a key with a computer chip in it. if the key you are using doesnt have one or the chip is messed up then you will experience the exact simptoms you speak of. are you using a copied key? you need to go to a ford dealership and get a new one from them. its going to cost over $100

you could always go through and get yourself a new 12v ingition key switch and just wire it right up to the ignition module and do whatever you have to do with the 12 v ballast resistor n shit, just bypass that stupid computer chip key bullshit, and for alot cheper than 100 bucks

yeah im not a big fan of the computer chip thing either. thats really my only complaint i have about ford.
