Ignition Switch

I have a 89 Ford Probe. My ignition switch is going crazy. I put the key in and sometimes it is hard to turn the key off like it is not turning. My farther in-law as another Ford Probe and I am trying to take just the middle part out. I understand that it just pop out when you stick something in a small hole. I tryed that and it is not working. there is two holes. there is one on the bottom and there is one on the top. Can someone help me this.
