so then basicly, it has about the same hp and torque as a d16y8, the civic ex engine. only its dohc... and alot older? doesnt sound like a good engine for me to look into...

Stick with the d15b vtec or the d16z6/y8 engines. Does Penn even allow you to put an older engine into your car (assuming it's your '93 hatch you're talking about). Just because it's DOHC, doesn't make it better.

Re: Re: DOHC D series???????????????

actually... i have a 97 coupe now... and no, we cant put older engines in car... not legally anyways... but i have ways around it... i have the d16y7 engine... i think im just going to put the y8 head on and leave it at that... gas is too high now for the dohc right now.... asuming its mpg isnot as good as the sohc's

Re: DOHC D series???????????????

Just stick with a D16y8 it will save you stress in the long run. Or if you really want a dohc then get a B series.

I'm not quite sure why anyone would want a ZC for the sake of DOHC. At that point one should've considered a B18B at the least. More HP and Torque to boot.

With a DX you need a tranny as well.

Re: DOHC D series???????????????

I have a DOHC ZC in my CRX. It was cost effective and provides plenty of power for the light weight car. Compared to my friend's CRX mini-me setup the DOHC ZC feels stronger at lower RPM's. It's also kinda neat to have a JDM twin Cam D series engine in the bay as well. Oh yeah, did I say cost effective?
