power door locks

My power door locks stopped working recently on a 2001 Astro Van, when I hit the button to open I hear a clicking noise. Those are the relays right under the dash, I found them and all they do is click when you attempt to lock/unlock the door. This doesn't look like a blown fuse because the relays are hot. I pulled all 4 relays and interchanged and tried installing 1 then 2 then 3 and all 4 in different combinations, no luck. Any ideas? Replace them all maybe? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Lightbulb Re: power door locks

Look between the driver side door and the frame of the van. See if the wires aren't cut or striped "damaged" my 87 Astro use to that, but soon found out that 4 wires got damaged. usual kind of wear when you open and close the door. that could be a start for you. While you are at it? if you see any other wires about to go? might as well fix it, chance are that your windows could be next.

it is a tight spot to work on, but if i did it? anybody can. =)

Good luck

Thanks for the advice. Oddly enough the next day, the locks were working again. The day they stopped working it happened to be raining and perhaps it dried out over night. I'll check what you said about wires getting crimped. Thanks again.

My '94 astro windows circuit was interuppted first- then the door locks- grab ahold of wiring boot at driver's door while attempting lock/unlock doors- see if you can turn it "on" and turn it "off" then you'll know where to find the broken/damaged wire--- I'd start with ther most used door first- the driver's door- have had to repair wires inside that big rubber boot on both sides of my Van...........
