R32 Vw

Started the R32 a couple hours ago.

I thought it would be cool to add a touch of the "old school" lol...I don't know that they'll let me keep'em on but it's worth a try...right?

The rims are a set of after market Fuchs. They are replicas of the "earlies" early Porsche style rims us air-cooled VW dudes dig. An original set of Earlies run you about $1300 a pair, so the Fuchs are an affordable option. (sorta)...I don't have plans to run a set on my car as I like the wide white walls with a slight rake....just preference I guess.

I know, I know it's rough, this is just a sketch. I'll transfer the image again and then use some tools like an ellipse set so it's not so nasty. Then scan re-draw in Illustrator, render in Photoshop.

Re: R32 Vw

I drew it then re-drew it then re-drew it...etc This is the only pencil part of this process. I'm going to print my scan without the wheels and then redraw them on my printed scan then scan it back in as my base so I can redraw it agin in Illustrator.

I used 4 different photos for reference. The reflections come from 2 different shots. I try not to follow the reference too close as I like a more stylized look. You can see how I made up the stuff happening in the lights totally. You can also see how the front end has been at like 5 different heights throughout this transer alone.

lol

It's still really rough..I'll be redoing the wheels with my tools and what not soon. Once I redraw it in the computer I fix a lot there too. Check out my other threads and you'll see what I mean.

Finally got to put some time into it.

This is my drawing on a template layer in Illustrator and then I trace over it. I decided to do the stuff I don't like first this time.

here's the combined line art and highlight stuff in Illy

I make the lines black and then export to Photoshop for rendering.
Here's the highlights alone. You can see they are unclosed shapes on their own. They intersect with the base lines in Illustrator. Once I export to Photoshop the entire image becomes raster and I can click in the shapes and fill them.

Blackline only

Got the Porsche emblem from http://www.brandsoftheworld.com

Re: R32 Vw

Lemorris, is your illy line work all done in one layer or separate ones for highlights and body lines?
Are they rastered in to PS as separate objects/files before you start the color channel work?

I'm getting confused with this process.

(It's a great design.)
