Question purchase of 2000 p-71

Hello, I was thinking of buying a 2000 p-71 crown vic.I figured it would have plenty of room with good performance and durability with room for a few tweaks and mods.My question is any thing in particular i should look for when looking and driving the vehicle? Also,if you ever have to replace an p-71 specific part such as heavy duty brakes or cooling parts, can you get them at the local parts store? Any help and advise will be greatly appriciated.

one thing to check for is the intake manifold. stock it will be 100% plastic. they were prone to cracking. ford issued a recall for p71's if they failed. covered for 7 years from the initial in service date.

if it has been replaced it will have an aluminum crossover. a much stronger unit where it needs it. if it has not been replaced, you would still have a couple years under the warranty.

all parts for the p71 can be had at any local parts stores. when you need to replace something, just ask here and we will tell you which brands are best for our cars.

enjoy the ride!
