If the antilock light is on that means you are already down to standard brakes. Do you have an electric master cylinder booster or a vaccum one? That may be your problem.

I can only speak from personal experience, but I have a 92 Caravan with the electric booster which has a hard pedal and if I let off the brake pedal and immediately hit it again I have no brakes at all, and after ruling out any other source of brake trouble, I started searching about the electric brake booster and it seems that there was a recall about them and that they are covered under a lifetime warranty through Dodge.

They are not too happy to be working on it but my local Dodge dealer has one on order and I am waiting for them to contact me to replace the booster.

The recall was put out years ago and may have already been done on your vehicle.

It was done on mine if I remember correctly about 8 years ago (I am not the original owner) but it seems the part is failing again.

While you are at the dealership have them look up your vin number and see if there are any recalls on your vehicle that have not been done.

You can also do this at the Dodge.com website using your vin number
