Well, my battery has been completely discharged, probably from driving too short distances combined with the fact that it seems the car charges the battery somewhat badly (have no idea why).
Anyway, I got myself a battery-charger to plug into the wallsocket, but now I'm trying to get the darn battery out of the car! I managed to unhook the connectors, but the battery is fastened to the frame. The only thing I can manage to see is an enormous bolt in the front of it, way down, that holds a plate over the bottom of the battery. The thing is, it's more or less impossible to get hold of it with a wrench since there's no moving space, and secondly its tightened like all hell! Is this the right one, and do I really need to get the car all the way down to a repair shop just too loosen my battery? ![]() It's an Elantra '96 1.6. |

Re: How to get out the battery?
Well, that's the right one. That plate holds the battery onto the tray it's sitting on. I can't remember what I used to get it off when I needed to. Maybe a socket wrench with extensions? Mine is a 2.0L, so I don't know how different the engine bay is. Good luck.
