If you build it...
So heres the deal, im going to build an AWD turbo SOHC VTEC CRX. I'm gonna use the six speed manual out of the wagon and its drivetrain. I plan to do a lot of cutting and some welding...lol. Ive researched this quite a bit and im pretty sure i can do it without blowing trannys every time i drive it. I would like some input, just incase ive overlooked anything severe.

Re: If you build it...
if you researched it, then, the conclusion should tell you it is a waste of time and money
want a better research on the awd civic/crx/integra. try HT. you get to look at prices, time, and the worthlessness of it. you even get to see actual results.

Re: If you build it...
well he wouldnt be the first to do it.
And I dont think the wagovans have 6 speed trannys either. I think it would be really cool, but the differentials of the wagovan can barely hold double the HP of the stock motor if you are lucky. So unless you are planning to make this a 150hp rally car I wouldnt really do it.

Re: If you build it...
if you want it to handle the power you might be better off using crv parts. hell just put a b16 head in a crv.

Re: If you build it...
The CRV AWD is different its like 70/30 split or something like that, i havent reaserched the CRV very much. The D series option is a whole lot cheaper, and im not talking about using the wagovan parts. The wagovan is a FWD 5 speed. The wagon is 4wd with a 6 speed manual look on autotrader. and double the horse power would be near 200hp. not 150. The parts are cheap enough that IMO it would be fun to see how much they could take. There is also aftermarket solutions to weak drivetrain components. It will probably end up costing some $$ but how many people have AWD CRX's?

Re: If you build it...
double the horsepower is going to break shit that why I said 150.

Re: If you build it...
ah, I dont know i just think it would be a fun project. Not my daily driver. I thnk that everyone doesnt give the d series enough credit. Theres a drag guy out there making 800hp on d series engines. I realize their built but that says somthing to me atleast.

Re: If you build it...
who wasnt giving D's credit? I know that can make power. all I was saying that the drivetrain isnt going to handle the power. and I am still yet to find a 6 speed wagon...

Re: If you build it...
forget all this, the transfer case alone would blow apart under these conditions, leaving you with no wheel drive.

Re: If you build it...
go to autotrader.com and do compare. Not the wagovan. The 88-91 civic wagon 4wd has a 6 speed transmission. I really think that this tranny can take more abuse than everyone thinks. Everything i have found is just speculation. No one has any hard facts that this will blow up. Im not saying itll hold 400hp probably not even 350 but you might be surprised. I dont know i guess ill find out.
And the no credit to D series was just a general statment not aimed at you guys.

Re: If you build it...
the 6 speed tranny in the 4wd wagovans is not made for any type of speed. its a 5 speed with a granny gear as 1st. so they call it a 6 speed.

Re: If you build it...
I cant find it now but it was in an article in superstreet. I moved so i dont have my back issues of superstreet anymore. I remeber he was a pro drag racer using d series to make high hp numbers. The WAGOVAN doesnt have a 6 speed. The civic WAGON has a 6 speed. Can anyone produce any evidence that this tranny will not survive. Everything ive seen is just theory.
