civic weight distrobution and effects of handling w/ audio equip.

i want to get into rally racing sumday, what kind of weight distrobution does a 93civic 4door have? and how much would having an extra 50lbs (or however much an amp, 10" sub, and fiberglass box whieghs) in my trunk effect my handling?

I don't think it would affect it too much, however, it would help out the weight distribution a bunch since the civic is so much heavier in the front. That and a full tank of gas should help.

Im not sure. I wonder though, if it would actually help. Even if it does balance out the wieght distribution, would the benefits on handling outweigh the effect the extra weight has on acceleration?

What is the weight distribution on our beloved Civics anyway, does anyone know this exactly?

(Sorry to answer with more questions, but I just figure Im at least keeping this thread up top. Id like to know about this too.)

I know, I was just reiterating, plus I was hoping for more than just numbers for a 93 sedan :silly2:

I guess we still wait....

I don't think they would let you run with the subwoofer and amp. Do you know how rough a rally is on your car and things that are not bolted down? Even in autocross or track days you are required to remove anything loose.

The weight distribution on most Civics is about 60/40 or 61/39. Just put a full tank of gas in (to prevent sloshing and engine starvation) and you should be fine.

so should i bolt my box down. its a bitch putting in and out. i gotta 15" in a huge box. i have to take out the floor board and spare tire to get it in there. then i gotta push it to the side and hold it, put the tire in with the other hand and then wedge the floor board between the two from inside the car with the rear seat folded down. sucks ass. what if i secured it to a rear upper strut bar?

For an autocross this maybe different but I run almost 1/8 of a tank. Just enough to prevent fuel starvation cause pulling more weight is NOT what you want to do to win. With rally this might be different since rallying is rougher and fuel will splash around more.

I have to 12in subs and 1 amp in my trunk...i estimate at least maybe 75 lbs between the subs box and amp...and with a full tank of gas...i honestly feel my handling is better....I didn't bolt down the box but i layed velcro down to hold the box in place so at least this way when I goto the track I can pull the box right out.

If you seriously want to race I'd sell those subs and buy a cf hood
...I've heard about people even taking their battery to the trunk...whats the purpose of that?

You want to be serious then answer question seriously. If not I will make sure you can't come back.

Even out the weight distribution of course. The battery weighing 25-50lbs moving it to the rear will make the car more like 55/45 weight which is better than 60/40. Also easier to corner weight a car with the battery in the rear.
