Blazer Tune-up...

What should I do to tune up my 96 Blazer 4.3L with 169K on the clock

I've changed out spark plugs, put in a new alternator, changed out the fuel filter...

What else can be done?

The vehicle runs fine and gets pretty good gas mileage, but it idles somewhat rough.

What should be cleaned? I hear egr and throttle body, but I have no idea where the egr is...

If you could tell me what should be cleaned or at least looked at and where it's located under the hood I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

Re: Blazer Tune-up...

Go to Autozone and buy a repair manual for your make and model truck. It will be the best $20 bucks you ever spent.

Follow the maintenance plan as outlined in the manual.

plugs and fuel filter at 169 is good. Alt replacement, OK

other things:

PCV
clean MAF, TB, and EGR and IAC
change diff fluid, transfer case fluid
air filter
cap and rotor
plug wires
transmission fluid and filter

* rough idle is likely IAC needs cleaned or TB

Re: Blazer Tune-up...

Air filter has been taken care of as I just added a cold air intake... so the MAF is clean...

The transmission has been taken care of (had it flushed / filter change)

I don't know about the cap and rotor

plug wires would be easy to change out...

I don't know what the PCV or IAC are... so yeah...

I'll think about the manual, I don't know of an autozone in the area... maybe I'll look on ebay

Don't you read?

I already said I changed spark plugs, fuel filter, AND installed a cold air intake (hence why I wouldn't need to change the air filter)

I'll maybe do the cap and rotor as well as spark plugs...

I don't know what the pcv valve is nor where it's located so I don't know how to tackle that one...

Re: Blazer Tune-up...

BlazerLT, why: AC Delco Platinum only?
there can't be that much difference between Delco's and Bosch platinum..... i trust your judgement, and i know theres reasons that certain parts are reccommended.

Re: Blazer Tune-up...

Bosch Platinum's are absolute crap in a 4.3L and will cause more problems than anything.

AC Delco Platinums are proven to perform the best.

The PCV valve will be in the driver's side valve cover and does need to be replaced. It will affect the idle plus if it is not working properly your oil will not be kept clean for long.

Also paulson, thanks for the attitude there, I posted a list of things you should do. You can check the ones you have done off and do the ones remaining. There is no reason for you snarky reply. I am trying to help so stop acting like a child with ADD.

Re: Blazer Tune-up...

Well I'm sorry for the snarky reply but I didn't understand why you posted 3 items that I had already replaced.

Thanks for the info as to where the PCV valve is...
