Traction & Cruise Control Problems

I currently own a 1999 Buick Park Avenue and have noticed this past week whenever I start the car the dash traction control indicator light says TRAC OFF and a interior in dash noise beeper beeps once.

When I attempt to engage it using the button control at the end of the gear shifter nothing happens and the light remains on telling me TRAC OFF
I also tried to use my cruise control and nothing happened. It would not engage.
The in dash indictor light (cruise engaged) would not come on.
Is it possible the above two problems are connected?
I checked all the vehicles fusses which are in good working order.

What could be the cause of this and is it costly to repair?
Other than the above mentioned problems the vehcile runs like a top and I love it.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions that you might have as I must leave this forum for now.

Re: Traction & Cruise Control Problems

Sounds like a bad multifunction switch.
