My wife and I just bought a used 2000 Montant ext. there is a problem I can't find the answer to here.
The pwer door lock switch on the door will lock all doors, but not unlock any. This happens on both driver and passenger side. Also the Keyless remote is not working at all. any Ideas? Also have noticed that theoverhead lights above the dash will not go out. You have to use the override switch to turn them off. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

For the Overhead Lights - Try pushing on them while they are on. They can be used as "Map Lights" and can be switched on or off by pushing on them. I would bet that they are switched on.For the Locks - I am guessing a loose wire either at the Body Control Module (BCM) or at one of the switches. Have you tried turning and holding the key in the door? That should also lock or unlock the doors (at least it does on my van). For the Keyless Remote - There are some Programming Instructions listed at the top of this forum. You could give those a try and see what happens. I have used them to program my extra remotes I got from eBay. I have a site that I keep some of the information about my van listed below. If you visit there, use the "Maintenance" and "Other Information" links to see some of the things that have happened to my van and what was done to fix it. My 2001 Chevy Venture Almost forgot - You might want to visit the Chevy Venture, Pontiac Transport, and Olds Silhouette forums too. These vans are all pretty much the same, except for trim packages. Take Care,

I had already tried to turn the overhead lights off that way, but still don't turn off.
I'm gettin ready to check those wires now. Hope that's the problem, and I found a lot of posts with directions for reprogramming the remotes. Try that today also. |

If that does NOT work, its time to look at the connectors & wires at the BCM. Hopefully the BCM is not going bad. Take Care,

Also, if you found one corroded wire, there could be others. If you look at the schematics that I have, you will see that the BCM has different input pins from the switches and the remote receiver. Oh yeah - the BCM also controls those overhead lights and when they turn off. I think you are "on your way" to having a fully functional system. Good job! Take Care,

After you follow all the programming steps, try them both, the'll probably work for you now. |
