My faith in the product is beginning to get a little shaken. I bought my '03 used in December of '04. I have already had the front hubs and power steering pump replaced under warranty. She's got about 36k miles on her now and today I had the O rings replaced in the A/C system.
I'm also seeing an issue with the interior lights coming on at random. It has not done it in a while, but it does happen. Ford could not find a problem. My cousin is a Ford tech and he talked me into getting the Ford extended service warranty for 6 years/100,000 miles. Today I used it for the A/C problem. My experience with the Fords that I have had, has told me that the A/C will definately be an issue for the years to come. Reading up on the msg boards here I see that the tranny may be an issue that will rear its head too. It's like I know that I am going to have these problems but I have to have my Ford anyway. At this point I just hope that I can get my money's worth (and some new parts down the line) out of the extended warranty since I plan on keeping the Winnie for a while.

Re: Love my Windstar but...
Foe the '03's, the heads should not be a problem, FORD has delt with that and the gaskets should not be an issue, Also the trans, if properly maintained( oil and filter changes at regular intervals) should not be a problem. The front hubs were a supplier issue ( we replaced several thousand in the plant) yours was probly 1 of a few that were already shipped when FORD decided to do the retrofit.
