99 Tahoe Transmission problem or what?
My 99 Tahoe with automatic transmission drives fine until it warms up. Then it jerks when taking off from a stop. Once the jerking stops, it will sometimes accelerate just fine, but other times it will rev when trying to shift from 1st to 2nd, like it was going into neutral. At this point, I can't shift into reverse or anything. But if I stop, turn the engine off and start it back up, it will shift from 1st to 2nd just fine until I get down the road, where it will jerk and won't shift again. If I get it into 2nd or 3rd gear, it seems to it seems to lose gas pressure, but then catches and accelerates. I tried to take it to get the transmission flushed and the tech said they wouldn't flush it if it was having problems. My engine light hasn't come on and I haven't gotten any error codes. When it shifts, it does it real smooth. It just either shifts or doesn't. Any ideas what this could be?

Re: 99 Tahoe Transmission problem or what?
Use the search part of the Suburban, Tahoe and C/K forum. I have read about the problems you describe. I think it has something to do with the line pressure changing and then after you shut down the engine it resets it self some how. Good luck. Dave

Re: 99 Tahoe Transmission problem or what?
Had a similar issue. I was told to keep my cruise control switch in the off position, havent had a problem since.
If its does continue for you take it to ammco, theyre familiar with that problem, cost about 250-350 they have to drill the valve body and add an after market kit. |
