A'pex WS owners, I need help.
What's up all? I have a WS catback on my '99 coupe and it's been on for like a month and a half now. Does anyone have any rattling problems?
I don't have a rear sway bar, so it's not that. My cat heat shield isn't loose, it's not that either. It only comes out after the car is heated up a little. Only then after I hit a bump, or even at idle sometimes. I think it's one of the hangers but I can't isolate the sound. What could be rattling? Anybody else with this problem? Hints, advice? |

Mine doesn't rattle whatsoever.....try lifting the car up and checking all the hangers...check where it bolts in and make sure they are all tightened correctly...also check to see if the hangers on the muffler portion are in correctly as well. Do you have a short shifter??

Nope no short shifter, but next time my cars on a lift I'll check out where the pipes bolt together (didn't actually think of that one). Thanks Jay.
Anyone else? |

yeah.. everyone with the WS usually develops a rattle off of the gas tank. Nothing major, you aren't gonna blow up. Just get some thick wire and tie it to your frame and pull the exhaust to the passanger side. Or you can make your own hanger like I did and the problem is elimated for like $2.

yeah mine rattles. I knew your post was going to be about this before I even read it. We're not the only ones. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm so damn tired of going underneath my car to fix things.

mine rattled against the rear heat sheild when i first put it on but a lil bending fixed it.. mine has only been on for 3 weeks or so, so we'll see if anything else rattles.

Thanks a lot guys.
CivSiGuy-where did you attach the exhaust to the frame? One of the pipes or on the can itself? Did you just use the wire tie on one of the hangers? |

I just got my Apex'i WS and it rattleled from the start. Nice system but major flaw in desinging it with that extra joint. Because of that extra joint by the gas tank that was'nt on the stock exhaust, it rattles. The joint just hits the gas tank making an annoying rattling sound. So what i did was go to a local muffler shop and they just heated up the hangers just a little and let the exhaust hang just a little lower. This got rid of the ratlling for good and has no rigging to have to refix. It cost maybe 10 dollars. I figure I 'd rather pay 10 up front then 2 every 3 months for a new clip. Good luck either which way.
