What model is my car??

Hello. Im new to this forum.
Im about to buy a Mitsubishi 3000GT V6 24V Turbo.

My problem is that Im not sure if its the 93 model or the 94 model. Or even more important, if it has the stronger upgrades that the 3000gt went through in mid 93 (I think)
Quote:
"Essentially, the following internals were changed mid 93:
93.5 has 4 bolt main, 91-93.5 had 2 bolt main (although it doesn't really matter unless you plan on modding the hell out of it).
93 has forged connecting rods, 91-92 does not
93 has forged crankshaft, 91-92 does not
93 has forged steel inserts inside cast aluminum pistons, 91-92 does not
93 has forged steal 25 spline output shaft, 91-92 have a cast 18 spline.
93 has stronger internals in the transfer case, and is a different design than earlier ones"

Also I this care seems to look a bit different than all the 3000gt's I've seen. Well it looks like a 93 model, but the headlights looks different, also between the taillights it says MITSUBISHI instead of 3000GT as on every other car I've seen.
There mights be other differences that I haven't mentioned, so please take a good look at these pictures and let me know that you think.

PS: I don't know if it has a 6spd transmission atm, but I dont think it has.

Re: What model is my car??

shweeeeeeeet! that's the european model of the 3000GT (as i'm sure you know, being from Denmark). i love those headlights, and the corner lights are all one big clear light. i've got a pic of one of those as my avatar.

ya, look at your door sticker for the production date as Musashi said.

I bet its a 93, but it could also be a 91 or 92. its definitely 1st generation.

definitely a 5spd mtx, as i see the shifter and b/c the 6spd mtx only came on turbo models 94+.

Re: What model is my car??

First off its either a 91 or pre 92.5 i say this because after 92.5 they started puting the 4 bolt main in the 3000gt. so its not a 93 and sure the hell not a 94. it is the euro version which is a very slick look. and all first gens came with the clear red mitsubishi rear tail garnish insted of the one saying 3000gt. and FYI they used all forge rods and pistons in ever model of the 3000gt. only things internally that changed was in 92.5 they changed the crank, switch to the 4 bolt main, they keept the 5 speed in 92.5 but changed to a 25 spline transfer case (they changed to the 6 speed in 94), and in 99 they changed the lifters.

Re: Re: What model is my car??

It could very well be a "94". They do things different in Europe. The car is titled as a 94 if it is registered in 94. There was a thread I was just reading today on 3si showing a "94" Euro 3k, and it had the pop ups just like that.

Yes, In Denmark the car is a "94" if its registered for the first time in 94. And thats actually why I was wondering, cause the dealer who's selling me the car says its a 94, even though its pretty obvious its not a 94 model. Thats actually fine by me since I like the cosmetics on this model better, but I really hope it has the upgrade internals from the 93 model, as I'm planning on a +500hp tune up.

But there should still be a door sticker showing the exact prodution date in the car, even though its a european car right?

All I have to say is good luck. They are hard as hell to find. I know someone who has some connections in the UK and was trying the same conversion. He gave upo after 5 months of trying to locate parts. Even if you do locate some shipping would be ridiculous.

Re: What model is my car??

not for me... my freind dusty owner of MVP has a connection in uk and he gets all his part shiped from uk in a container on a boat so for me it would be like $200 thats what he said, being a bumper and what not... the main part is finding the parts.
