Plugs deterioration

Do plugs go bad over time even if it hasn't been installed?

Re: Plugs deterioration

That kind of depends on the conditions you store them in and the type they are...

If you are storing them in a dry place:

Platinum are pretty much corrosion proof so they can be stored pretty close to forever as long as the threads don't rust...

Copper Should be cleaned and gap checked if you are storing them for several years since they will corrode (albeit pretty slowly if it's dry).

Iridium will also rust over time but because it's new it's hard to say how fast... It's also pretty hard to re-gap, so if i would say buy these if you are planning to change your plugs in the near future.

But the name of the game is: KEEP THEM DRY! If it's been wet for while the rust on the treads (no matter what the contact material) will ruin the plug.
