A qeustion that is bothering me is this......if/when I get my nitrous kit should I use the 93 rating gas premium or does it mattter or can i use 89? If I should use the 93 rating, what should I do to my fuel lines or whatever? I use 89 right now.

i can get 87, 89, 90, 91, 92, and 93 octane in my town, i'd have to go to about 3 different gas stations, but they're all there

Re: Nos

yes, you need to get colder plugs and run 93 octane whenever you want to hit the juice. What are you doing for fuel modifications?

Re: Nos

The stuff I have done is new spark plugs, plug wires, new alternator, new fuel pump and fuel rails, battery. That is all the new stuff I have done to my car since I got it.

As for gas we have 87, 91, and 93.......sorry for any inconvenience.

What do you mean by colder plugs? And as for the gas, what would I have to do to switch from 91 to 93. Isn't there a big difference in gas and would that mess up my gas lines or anything like that if I have a mixture?

Fuel modifications I should probably ask first before I get one installed.

Higher octane gas is meant for higher performance engines to help prevent predetonation aka knock. With high compression engines or engines with forced induction (turbo/supercharger), the extra heat from the compression can actually cause the air/fuel mixture to ignite before it should, causing the knocking sound. Using a higher octane fuel helps prevent the predetonation.

Using a high octane fuel when a a low octane fuel would work will not cause any problems...and it really wouldn't give you and advantages other then making your pocketbook thinner. There is no performance addatives and usually no signifiant additional cleaners over the standard grade. And they are completely compatible with one another...they aren't going to damage anything. Using 1/2 a tank of 87-grade and a 1/2 tank of 91-grade will result in a tank of...about 89-grade.

Similarly to forced induction engines, if you were to use NOS in your current setup the heat produced in the combustion chamber also would go up. To counter this you can use a plug with a colder heat range to help reduce the temperatures.

You'll want to upgrade your fuel system as the NOS itself does not produce more horsepower per se. It just produces more available oxygen to react with the fuel. If you don't increase the fuel to burn, you wouldn't be getting the maximum potential "benifit" of using NOS.

Re: Nos

What upgrades would you suggest to do on my fuel system? Where would I go to get this new fuel stuff?

Maybe NOS isn't for me, I really don't race much, I just want it to kinda show off a bit. Maybe later when I do turbo or SC my car, I will use it more and race on the ¼ mile. But until then, I wouldn't use it constantly.

Yer messing with something you don't need to mess with. But if you do and something horrible goes wrong, I'd really enjoy some entertaining pictures.

Re: Nos

That video shown above is what happens when Nitrous puddles.....

Oh and.... Its not called "NOS" its Nitrous. NOS is a brand name along with NX, ZEX, Venom, and the other off brands. This isn't the FNF... Nitrous is extremly fun though. I have ridden in a sunfire runing a dry 50 shot.
