Re: blazer egr question

Remove clean and reinstall your EGR valve with a new EGR gasket.

We will let it slide this time!!!! Just kidding buddy. Use throttle body cleaner on the egr, soak it for some time if possible, a little aggitation and you should be able to get it as good as new. Good luck to you!

Re: blazer egr question

Take an old toothbrush and TB cleaner and spray inside the holes to clean it and scrub it. Also check the holes in the block for any carbon buildup.

Then reinstall with a new EGR gasket and you will be good to go.

Remember to reset the computer as well.

Re: blazer egr question

correct me if i am wrong because i am not a mechanic. but i remember reading somewhere that if your car keep throwing the p1406 code, that you may need to buy a new egr valve. now if you have a piece of carbon jammed in there inableing the pintle to move, then i know you just need to clean it. but if you keep receiving the code with no carbon stuck in there, the article said due to normal wear, the pintle will get stuck on its own because of age and will need replacing.. i will try to find the article again.
