Question Outback Automatic Trans. Clunky

Hi,
I test drove two 2001-2003 Outbacks and they seem to be clunky in the automatic shifting (both up and down shifting). Is this typical of Outbacks? Thanks.

Re: Outback Automatic Trans. Clunky

Mine's a '99, but shifts fine for all I can tell, it's firm, definite shifting, but never thought of it as clunky...
