Fuel Pump Problems

I have a 1997 Camaro with the LT1. The fuel pump has gone out. I am planning on selling the car and would not like to invest the $275.00 for a new pump/float assembly, which I was told how it comes. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Any ideas on what? Selling the car? You'd have to go REAL cheap because it comes with a problem, if I were you i'd put a new fuel pump in it and the car will sell for more. Because cars that dont run usually sell for under 1K or so and you could get around alot more depending on mileage.

The 'real cheap' part is true.
Doest it run? If it runs sell it like that, but you will have to explain to everyone why the drivability is so poor.
I consider selling the car without telling that the pump will die real soon is a bit dishonest. (Most people sell crap and happy about it. I suffered from it so many times when people actually tried to cover up deffects.)

I agree, screwing someone else with your problems just isn't right.

Normally, you can replace an in-tank pump by itself, or replace the entire assembly, but I can't find just the pump for your car, so it may not come seperate. I'd give the dealer a try, just to see what they say.

Wow sucks for you guys, thankfully I found my pump only for about 80 dollars, which is still high but ALOT better then 250 or so for complete assembly.

No it doe not run...I wish it did! The "any ideas" part is in reference to these aftermarket fuel pumps I see for camaros that say "will fit" a 1997 Camaro, but are not sold with a sending unit, float, fuel pump assembly like what is in mine. Thanks for the advise!

You will have to spend the money becuse it will impact the value a lot and time it takes to sell the car.
I will buy it from you for a $1000 less its real value.(HE ,HE...)

The fuel pumps you're referring to, may be a universal in-line pump, and if your in-take pump doesn't work, it wouldn't get any fuel.
