Ran out of gas know won't start
Drove home last night on empty tank, would not start this morning, put a few gallons in it, rolled it on flat ground, still no fuel. Even checked the tire valve on the rail, dry! I can hear the fuel pump click on when I turn the key on. Could it be air in the line and just needs to be cranked to death? I bought a new fuel pump months ago , but never put it in. Question? can the fuel pump be bad even if you can hear it turn on?
And yes I did jump the fuel pump resestor (first thing) Thanks |

Re: Ran out of gas know won't start
Could be just all the air still in the fuel lines. Are you sure you have enough fuel in it?
Turn the key to the RUN position and depress the valve on the fuel rail (the "tire" valve) until fuel comes out and stop. Clean up the gas spill. Then try to crank it. |

are you sure that it does not need to be cranking white doing this? Tried your suggestion, all I got was a little bit than it stopped. I have about 3 gallons so it should be enough. I just do not want to put too much in than have to sifon it out to replace the pump. Thanks

Re: Ran out of gas know won't start
That was meant to ensure the presence of fuel in the rail without all the spinning parts. Do you have a fuel pressure gage? If so, what's the pressure when you crank it?
If not, I'd crank it up and see if it starts. |
