2005 wind tunnel

My mother just bought a 05 Malibu and was cruising down the road at about 45 mph. The rear window was down and one helacious noise started. I mean it was buffering ear drums and all. I though she was just wako till she took me for a ride. What a piece of %$#%.

She took it to the dealer and they told her that it was just wind noise. How could anybody have approved this from an engineering perspective.

Has their been a tsp or recall?

Why do you drive around with your rear windows down?

Driving a vehicle with only the rear windows down will cause a buffering sound in the vehicle.

No recall or TSB..they don't cover stupid.

Every vehicle I have ever owned, including the current 04 Malibu with the same body style as your moms will do this with only the back windows lowered, but will not if they are only lowered a couple of inches. This will also happen if you open a moonroof in a vehicle with all the windows closed, the back ones should be lowered a little to avoid this. I do this to my wife all the time to wake her ass up when she falls asleep on me, nothing like waking up from eardrums rattling!

yeah...do you really expect the designer to say "ok. now lets make it so its quiet when you have only the back windows down!" no. because no one does that. when you have the back windows down, you are interrupting a fast moving stream of air. thats bound to cause alot of noise.

Yeah, I would say no worries. My moms 04 malibu does the same thing. My own car, a 2000 Saturn SL1, does this as well.
