Re: lighter died

does your cigarette lighter itself work, cuz remember you have a fuse in the car for the lighter plug and the big part of your car charger that plugs into the lighter plug also has a fuse. most of them are easy to take apart either a screw off top or its just one screw, but you may have blown the fuse in your car adapter itself.

here I went and got some pictures...

see the twist off cap

then usually has a spring with metal cap for the power and the metal on the side of the plug is for the ground.

and then this is the type of fuse, most likely a 2 or 5 amp glass AGU fuse.

Re: lighter died

Re: Re: lighter died

ok its been a long day and im tired but I hope this makes sence.....in the schematics theres one thing supplying power to the cigar, acc, and the power drop. called the accesory wiring junction box(shown as 3) now shown in "2" it says acc power breaker, which is close enough for me, now as shown in "2" where it is located with all the other fuses if you hold up the panel so that corresponding fuses line up, where the acc power breaker should be located is behind the black box labeled "1". now this is all on the driver side. its just an idea that I came up with quick and like I said im tired so I may be way off base, but instead of just replaceing that big 30A fuse, you can jsut take it out an test it if you have a voltmeter. hope this helps.

Unhappy Re: lighter died

I have a 2001 impala 3.8 and I had the same thing happen. I was using my portable air compressor in the front acc. plug when it just stopped working, I replaced the 10a fuse but it still did not work.

This acc power breaker mentioned behind the 'black box' ,
could this be the problem? If so, how do you remove the black box to get to it? Is it the center screw that has to come out?

The pics from bigrod118 are not showing up .
