slotted vs drilled rotors

I am planning to replace my stock rotor and pads on 01 Civic HX. I am trying to find out what would be the real difference between slotted rotor vs. drilled rotors.
I have noticed that some drilled rotors are not recommended to high performance driving and seems like they are for looks only. But don't race cars use drilled rotors?
Slotted rotors have higher mass and seem to holdup well in high heat operation. But how does the slots, which is designed to clean break pads impact typical break pad life? Is a slotted rotor more durable than a drilled rotor??
Or should I just stick with good'ol vented disks? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When it comes to brakes i feel NEVER EVER EVER EVER cheap out always get the best *while still sane* you can dont' even look at costs remember its all you got to stop you.

While just oem style is pretty good for normal and light spirted drives I race alot and when my motors arn't blowing the fuck up I drive it daily also so i needed something track worthy and ok for street.

I love my Brembo blanks or as you said good ol vented *most everyone will agree hands down best rotor money can buy for a honda* for pads I run HawkHPS hawk claims they sqeek i've yet to find this i had more squeels with oem pads and even then very rare.

As far with race cars they are stopping over and over from 100-200 mph so for them drilled helps for you and I we just lose a bit of stopping area *most supercars/race cars brakes are alot bigger to stop that* Drilled rotors of lower quality do risk cracking.

I know I send a bit of a novel to you but Brembo blanks + Hawk HPS pads you'll be happy with better then stock and price is not much more if not less then hondas OEM.

I definitely agree with you.

I also noticed that Brembo does make both slotted and drilled rotors. I guess they call it their "Sport" series. These rotors area obviously more expensive than the OEM replacement blanks. But the cost is not that outrageous. How you think these would impact break pad life?

You also brought an interesting point. I sure can understand that less surface are means less braking power. So if these sport rotors were as same size as the blank OEM style rotors, would the rotors actually have less braking power than the OEM style blank rotors? I guess that's a question fit for the brake guru.

Thanks for the info.

ok so I had them installed at the shop. The shop said they were warped out of the box, or my hubs are somehow misaligned or crooked. So he told me he couldn't cut them because of them being slotted but somehow he trued them and made them align. They work perfectly now, whatever he did, and I have no shuttering. The breaking power is smooth, I dont know about really strong though, maybe I have to break the pads and rotors in.

he told me that he trued the rotors to the hub, because he couldn't cut them. I'll look at my receipt later today and let you know because I think he used some extra part to do this. The breaks are working better today I think, more stopping power, perhaps they had to be broken in. I emailed tirerack, I want them to reimburse me for the extra charges incurred for the warped rotors.
