SS vs. Z-28

Hey everyone,
I'm looking to buy a camaro, but I know pretty much nothing about cars. I've started learning a bit about everything and I think I'm getting the hang of it. But I can't decide if the SS or Z-28 is a better choice. What do you guys think?? Any kind of input would be great.

What years are you lookign at? with 4th gens the performance difference was not too much, and a lot of people say if you want a car to mod go with z28 and if you want a more rare car to keep stock go with the SS.

I'm looking more into the first and second generations, like between 1968-1973, to restore for drag racing. I heard that the ss was the better way to go, but I can't find anything to really back that up.

Re: SS vs. Z-28

If you are looking at 4th gens....only the SLP SS had a couple more horses.
Regular SS's and Z-28's were powered the exact same. Might see a little more power on the dyno with the SS, but run the same times at the track with both cars.
The SLP is only a bit more powerful thanks to free flowing exhaust.
