Ignition Switch

98 Grand AM key occasionally will not turn in ignition, when it does it spins starter but bendix/solonoid does not activate. Found anti theft device below switch was very hot while attempting to start. Car was taken to dealer one year ago on a recall with similar problem and a harness with a relay was installed. I think the wrong part was addressed in the recall and it did not fix the problem. Dealer service manager disagrees and says the problem is in the switch.

I disconnected and removed the anti-theft device when it got hot on last attempt to start. It appeared to be near plastic melting point.
The device has a long (abt.4") pin driven by small solonoid, it had an L shaped arm attached to end that goes into switch,this arm slides over the pin and is forced onto knurled area of pin abt 1/2 " from end, the arm appears to have come loose from knurled area and slides freely, also a small block of blk foam rubber fell out of the unit when it was extracted from switch.

Is there any specs on the anti theft device or a diagram so it can be reassembled avoiding the $40 for a new one.
