Spark Plug Question.

Got the 240 so now im' gonna get started on a tune up. I put in a new air filter, and bought some new platinum spark plugs and some new wires as well. What size socket do i need to pull the old plugs? Also, whats the firing order of the 90' coupe? Last question, is cylinder one closest to the front end of the car or farthest? Thank gurus.

Re: Spark Plug Question.

firing order is 1-3-4-2, cylinder 1 is at the front of the engine.. try 12mm for the spark plugs but i'm not completely sure

Re: Spark Plug Question.

NO it's 5/8.
Take that platinum crap back and get some NGK plugs and a new z32 fuel filter.I swear almost every 240sx I've checked out still has the factory filter on it...Seafoam the bitch too!

Cap and rotor is a good idea too.

I'll replace the cap and rotor soon, but i don't see a point in buying performance plugs if i'm not adding performance modifications yet. Its not like those plugs cost me more than 6.00. I'll let you guys know when i finish with the plugs and wires. After a few modifications, i plan on adding the ngk plugs and an upgraded filter. If i buy the z32 filter, how long will i go before i have to pull the pump and replace again.

Re: Spark Plug Question.

I bet those Platinum plugs you purchased cost more than NGK V-Powers.They are only about $1.58 a piece or if that is too much for you go with coppers pt# BKR5ES-11 @ $1.38 a pop.

Also after reading that last post you have some serious researching to do...

Re: Spark Plug Question.

Use a torque wrench as well. Proper torque is very important for good plug-to-head heat transfer. Also put some anti-seize compound on the threads before installing.

Plugs
Cap and rotor
fuel filter
air filter
service AIV
O2 sensor
check all vacuum lines for leaks
change oil
Change oil filter
check all vehicle grounds
yada yada yada
