Got Muscle? '70 Dodge Charger
I was talking with some people online about my models, and one of the called my Not so Secret Top Secret Skyline a ricer. So, I was talking about muscle cars with him and he really likes Mopar's, so I got to thinking...hmm, I could use some muscle in my collection. So, on impulse (like most of us) I got the AMT '70 Dodge Charger The Fast and The Furious model.
It's a great model, almost no flash, and a really strong body mold. Everything else seems to be good also. I painted it TS-30, Metallic Green, with a flat black hood. So far, that's all the construction done to the car besides the engine being glued together. Without further ado, pictures: Yes, the coloring is off due to the picture being taken with a flash at 9 oclock ish at night inside. But, if you would like to see what it is in the sun, follow this link: http://photos22.flickr.com/33291448_da772c7e16.jpg?v=0 |

Re: Got Muscle? '70 Dodge Charger
It's okay on the detail. The chassis is all one piece, but the exhaust is seperate, which is a good thing. The interior tub is one piece with the dash, seats, and other small parts needing to be glued in. The engine, nice looking, but some small alignment problem.
The instructions, gah, horrible. The car can be built two different ways, but they only show you one. They assume you know how an engine goes to gether and pretty much lets you go from there. The mold flash really isn't that bad, which is a good thing considering that it is an AMT kit. On the body, there is one sink hole on the trunk, right before the spoiler. Where the gas cap would go, there is a circle raise about 1mm off the body. There might be a gas cap on one of the sprues, but I haven't seen any yet. Overall, it's not a bad kit, just needs a bit of attention and it can look nice. |

Since y'all were stressing over when I'd get more updates, I have some pictures to show.
A shot of the tub without the front seats, dash, or pedals. Chrome parts. Two front bumpers, and two sets of wheels are given. I don't know which to use of either though. The roll cage. Went together really nicely, slants inward at the bottom instead of the top though. First shot of the block. Went together fairly well, but as mentioned before, a few alignment issues. ![]() Second shot of the block. The belts need to be painted, and the headers need to be repainted to cover up the black on the block. I think I might strip the block, but the highest alcohol here is 91% I'm not sure if that is high enough or the right type, so a little help here would be nice. Also, when the block is in the frame, it sits slanted to one side and looks bad, not sure why it's doing this, but I need to fix it. |

Re: Got Muscle? '70 Dodge Charger
I also built that same AMT kit a while back. And in my honest opinion.....its CRAP. But thats just me....the instructions sucks....the wheels look terrible especially the five spoke ones. Nothing on the engine seemed to fit right and the roll cage didnt even fit inside of the car right. I had to modify just about everything to get it to work, and the end result still blowed.
I just thought I would point out these few things for anyone that was thinking about buying this kit. Maybe I'm just used to Revell kits....I dont know.

Just a mock up of the car with the wheels on and interior sitting there.
Still need to clean up the rims and paint the backings black. I also need to change which hole the front wheels are in since they are riding the wheel wells. Need to attach rear bumper, and as of this moment reattach the front bumber. I just pryed it off while trying to take the hood off. >_> The engine bay needs a bit of detailing, and so does the engine, just have to attach the distibuter and wire it. Exhaust needs to be lined up with headers, and then it's almost done. |

Re: Got Muscle? '70 Dodge Charger
This thing is almost done. No pictures. The final parts glued are drying and it should be ready tomorrow afternoon for some pictures. If it is, then I can finally add another model to the completed list. =)
