Hi there I am new to this and this is my first post. I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee and for some reason the power windows freeze up and I wind up having to take the power off the battery and putting it back on for the windows to work again. Doesnt happen all the time it is sporadic. Has anyone delt with this problem before? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Well turning off the jeep and turning it back on doesnt fix the problem. The best guess I can come up with is a bad relay somewhere but I wouldnt even know where to look for it.

I found a rubber hose on the drivers side where the door hinges are that holds and guides all the wiring for the power windows into the drivers door master panel. My windows doing the surratic thing until they stopped working completly . I cut the hose open to expose the wire and found about 2 wires broken and another on its way . This can only be due to opening and closing the drivers door repeatadly. Like bending a coat hanger back and forth until it snaps. I soldered the wires and rewrapped them about 2 years ago. I'm sure it will come up again.

I had this issue with my 99 WJ. As it came from an auction, I think it sat around for awhile. With regular use, the problem has gone away. I think the switches may have coroded, and may be the self cleaning type.
Check those wires though as mentioned in the previous post. |
