Re: whats ur gas mileage

I recently took a 1600 mile trip through the South in my 93 JGC 4.0 4WD W/245,000 mi. and got an overall 25.2 MPG. Now,bear in mind that this was almost all highway miles. My city average is usually 18-19 MPG.

Re: whats ur gas mileage

Jeeperphil,

I must ask,
What plugs you using, what wires.
I need to desparately bring my gas mileage back up, it's starting to kill me...lol gas prices just reached $3.10/gallon for regular (87 octane) here.

Also do you get any PINGING? rattling noise when underload (approximately 2,200 RPMS or greater)?

Re: whats ur gas mileage

Went on a 500 mile road trip this summer and showed a calculated 19.3miles/usgal for the whole trip. That was with 4 adults and luggage and a little country pokin around too.

Holiday trip with a topper and a canoe saw an overall trip average of 17.2 miles/usgal and that included a 35 mile forestry 4wd road trip back to a favorite fishing lake.

I have never looked at a strickly city/town mileage though it would be around 13-14 I am sure.

JD

EDIT
Should have added that it is a 96 JGC Larado 5.2L with quatra trac and the Up Country package on Michlin Cross Terrain's at 32psi.

I just changed the plugs, aircleaner and front O2 sensor before we left on the first trip as well as changing all the fluids in the diffs, tranny and transfer case (synthetic) and the engine oil (dino 5w30 this time).

Re: Re: whats ur gas mileage

Hey, I'm sorry. Big Nathan, But I read both your posts/comments on gas prices and had to wade in. Two hundred Bil' to free the second largest oil fields on the planet. Another bil' a month to maintain, no end in sight. So why am I paying 3.03 for reg gas, when it all the money and effort was supposed to be paying for itself? Why is gas not 99cent a Ga.? Your both right, something has got to give the only question is when?

i have a 1997 GCL 4.0L 6CYL and i get 19.2mpg constantly highway or city.
when i first got it a couple months ago it was 16.7mpg, but after i installed a K&N stock replacement air filter and switched to castrol 10W30 sythetic oil it went to 19.2.

i havnt changed the plugs or plug wires yet, im also thinking about changing the O2 censors. anyone know the price of the O2 censors? thanx.

Re: whats ur gas mileage

DELL,
The O2 Sensors are ussually around $70, On your jeep you have 2 O2 Sensors (1 pre cat, 1 post cat.) If you are only going to be replacing one of them I would replace the one before the cat.
