Dealer won't install a used PCM
I need a new PCM for my car, the dealer wants $850 to install a new one. Dealer says he cannot reprogram a used PCM that I acquired for a 2002 chrysler concorde limited, it has all the correct part numbers and sequence numbers on the used one. I cannot just plug it in because it is not programmed to my key....is this correct???

Re: Dealer won't install a used PCM
the dealer is abosolutely correct. If you have Sentry Key and the module you're replacing doesn't accept Sentry Key, you'll have a communication code set and you're engine won't start. Also, if your car is a 2000 & prior, the PCM is different from a 2000 Concorde & a 2001 Concorde. Also your PCM has all the information needed to keep your engine running such as the weight, specific engine (2.7 vs. 3.2/3.5), transmission (autostick or not), etc.
