Will exhaust wrap help keep starter cooler?

As it says in my title, will getting the exhaust wrapped help keep the starter from going out. Reason being I own a 73 F250 with a 390 that some idiot put block huggers on and the starter gets hot as hell. And to make matters worse, I have to take off the whole exhaust (welded together) to get the new starter in.

So do you think the wrap will help?

Re: Will exhaust wrap help keep starter cooler?

It should help some I don't know if it will do the job though. I made a heat shield out of thin sheet aluminum for my Galaxie but I realy can't say if it made a difference.

^ya or you can by a $300 super starter if you think it will be a problem there bodies are smaller and can take the heat. I said screw that I'll see how long mine lasts.

Yeah, I don't think I want to spen the dough on that.

But smaller would be good. I have to unbolt the engine mounts and the header to make enogh room to take out the starter by jacking up the engine itself. PITA!!!
