Why not to be cheap lol :)

Well I was driving home from school which is about 20 miles away from where I live, and while on the highway I pull up to a gen 2 gs with a giant fiberglass spoiler full body kit and some sort of rims( I wasnt paying attention) anyway i had my cruise set at about 75 and i was passing him and all of the sudden he gets on it and takes off, well i wasnt going to just let a gs walk all over me so i follow and blow by him and then slow back down to the speed limit and all of the sudden he blows by me again or as i call it the loser fly by so i get on it again and catch right up to him and all of the sudden there was a loud pop from under my hood and instantly i though of the worst, blown something so many things rushed into my head and then my car started to idle at abour 100rpm and the oil light came on and everything locked up so i pulled over and looked under the hood because i though my uicp popped off but i looked and it was all fine so as i was pondering what the problem may be i started to examine the couplers on the pipe and i noticed the one on the tb elbow looked a little funny and i looked closer and there was a hole that blew threw it about the size of a quarter and that was causing all of my problems lol. let me back up a little. when i bout my car the uicp had all rubber 2 year old couplers that were all weak and flexable so one got a hole in it and i got ahold of a silicone one and stuck it on there and a few days ago another one started to pop off so i got another rubber one from like ace hardware thinking it would be good since its used on water pipesso long story short it was the one from ace that got a hold blown in it in 2 days at 9psi in my car so I just ordered a set of 5 silicone couplers and spent the money for quality. moral of the story, dont be cheap spend the money the first time so you dont have to replace even more things later

it was pretty funny because this happened about 10 or so miles away from town, so i was in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road. really there wasnt anything I could do about the hole and becuase of it i was running extremely rich and topped out at 45. Also i almost caused an accident with a big rig getting in the other lane to avoid a 45mph talon and he cut off an suv it was probably pretty scary for the suv. anyway i limped home and i had an extra coupler to get me around untill my silicone ones come in. so no more racing for me ofr a while. but the important thing is that i beat the riced out clipse right?

can someone tell me the difference between ricing eclipses or talons, to upgrading non turbo cars?

If you watch fast and the furious and try to make your car look like that, you might be a ricer.

if you think and eight foot wing looks good on an eclipse you might be a ricer.

but that didn't awsner the question, aren't ricers trying to make their car look fast? aren't non turbo people trying to make the car SEEM faster? that reminded me of "you might be a redneck" =)

This eclipse was a mexi car and had old english something in the rear window probably a last name and mitsubishi in the front window and about a 2.5 foot wing with a blitz body kit and probably 16s with stock suspension with cut springs and camber out the ass and judging by the shifting im pretty sure it was an auto but im not positive

haha related thing happened to me. when I was putting on my front mount I didn't have any pressure tested good for intercooler pipes type couplers so I just went to home depot and purchased some water-pipe couplers and a couple miles away from home they all exploded. So now(even though I bought psi tested couplers) I carry 2-3 extra in the car with me in case one pops lol

People with N/T cars trying to make them faster is not being a ricer!!! I don't get it, turbos don't make a break a person as a ricer. I've seen massive ricers that have turbos. This one dide I worked with had a 02 civic with a wing that, I swear to god, was taller than the roof of the car. The rims were ugly as hell and it was an auto... but it had a turbo... so he's not a ricer? I don't get it.

I put all the work into my car because I don't need a turbo right now. I don't want a turbo right now. I'd probably kill myself. Im happy with my N/T and the work I'm doing on it. It's not a ricer car bc its N/T.

mmmm I think the point is, look how much money you have spent on a non turbo.... im comparing the waste in money, not performence. if you buy a turbo don't upgrade it... you wont kill yoruself... they're pretty quick stock. tell me how your gauge pods and gauges(always thought those were for BOOST, Oil pressure, and Coolant Temp) along with your under glow and interior glow, your dvd player; to put everything into context, i have a 97 dodge intrepid, and i had interior glow.... and i was bored, i wanted other rice cars to race me 2.5 ton tank; and i I am stiill confused about your header,cat back, and your pulley!??! this sounds like rice, without the wing.... which i think you have lol. but not huge like you describe, this isn't bashing my friend, im trying to figure out what seperates you and eclipse dude guy from rice. I know this will be taking out of context, and you nerdatrons will pick apart grammer and spelling mistakes. Oh, one last thing, i didn't say it wasn't rice to have non turbo cars, it was whats the difference for people who modify their N/T cars?

Who in the hell gets to decide what is rice? I swear to god that word is thrown out more often nowadays than is entitled. Just because you mod your car does not make you a ricer, and just because you mod your N/T to be faster than stock is in no way rice.

Rice is all based on appearance. It dosn't matter what is under the hood, it's what they did to what you can see. If they painted their car pink, layed on some vinyls and decals that said "turbo" or whatever, put on carbon fiber altezza lights, 5 in. fart can, added a massive wing right after taking the back seat out for "weight reduction", and drive it like they have 500 hp to the wheels, that is what I consider rice. If they put on an intake and exhaust, maybe some nice wheels and subtle appearance mods, and drive it like a normal car unless at the track, how is that rice? Let it go.

I would have to agree with you, as far as the eclipse i "raced" that fits into your discription except it has a stock exhaust but other than that exactly what you said. btw there is a 97ish civic coupe at my school with a d16 or whatever 1.6 sohc v-tec turbo with a front mount and i guess it has 280whp and 200wtq but the real kicker is it has like a carbon fiber hood inlay where only the middle of the hood is cf and the outter edges are sheet metal?? and it has a "cf" trunk, at least i thought it was untill i looked closer and relized it was a cf vinal overlay and it has recaro racing seats with 4 point harness in the drivers side and "powered by civic" pads on the belts among other things
