MagnaFlow Exhaust

i think i've narrowed it down to this. i heard the loudmouth would sound bad above 3000rpm's and would probably be too loud. so how do you think the magnaflow would sound on my V6? any some sound clips would also be helpful too. thanks.

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

Magnaflow's the way to go . Unless of course you don't mind spending the money for a Borla system.

There's a link to Magnaflow's kit. It's got links of sound clips as well on it. Don't mind the price they have listed, that just the MSRP, you can get the kit for a little over $300 on www.byunspeed.com. Or you can try eBay.

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

I've got Magnaflow cat back exhaust on my 98 3.8L Firebird. It's really great. I would have like to have gotten Borla, but my pockets arent that deep! It's sounds great! I'd recommend it!

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

It sounds fine! People will tell you it sounds like rice, but i personally could care less. A V6 will never sound like a V8, but it's as good as i can get it right now, since my insurance rate is way to pricey for a V8. I love my exhaust, it gives the car 'some' added boost and it makes it loud. I don't care what others think about the sound it makes, as long as a own a beautiful car, that makes me smile everytime i look at it, then thats fine with me!

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

No, it's not to high-pitched. It's just right! I will be honest, it is a little high pitched (it is a v6!) but it has a good enough tone to not be annoying. I've never heard a Flowmaster in person, so i can't really give you my view in comparing them. When i bought my exhaust, the guy at the performance shop told me Borla was the ultimate (too expansive for me at the time!) but he recommended Magnaflow over the Flowmaster, when it came down to it.

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

Even if it was a Borla, you would still get that high pitched tone. I've got Borla, and once I get around 3k rpm's, that's when it starts to scream. But it's really not that bad. Mine would probably have a little lower tone if I didn't remove my cat. Figured why spend money on a cat when Florida has no emissions tests. I know Flowmaster would give you a way lower tone, but it's also alot more restrictive than that of Borla, and Magnaflow. I personally would rather have a nice smooth flowing exhaust that tends to get a loud pitch, rather than a nice deeper sounding exhaust that's more restrictive.

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

well, im not really to worried about how much power i gain from this exhause, i just want a good sounding exhaust (mainly a low sounding one). and you did say flowmasters are lower sounding than magnaflows. so i think im goin to keep lookin.

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

Well, Flowmaster is somewhat considerably deeper at lower rpm's, but once you get to that 3k mark they scream even louder than Magnaflow would. That's why most prefer Magnaflow, you get an overall satisfying sound. It's not as deep at low rpm's as Flowmaster, but it sounds just as good.

Re: MagnaFlow Exhaust

ohh. cause i dont like high pitched exhaust. i guess a overall good sound would be better than good lower rpm sound and high pitched high rpm sound.
