Unhappy Pistons

Hi there I have had an engineer look at my car because it started making a knocking noise when you go over 2.5 thousand revs. How ever his english is not to good. I managed to under stand that the pistons was not working correctly, and was not pumping the oil round the engine. He advised me it was an expenive job and not really worth doing.

Now I have just put the car threw an MOT, brought 2 new tyres and had a lot of welding done to the car. I have someone that does cars up but hes away fishing atm

Ok my questions are;
Is it possible to solve this problem?
What is involved to fix this?

Ps I have very little knowledge of cars (i drive them and thats about it )
Also like to say thansk for help if you give some.

i dont know much about this type of car, but it sounds like you just need a new oil pump...maybe try an oil additive as well.

but the piston im not sure about. it could be damaged or cracked from lack of oil. if so, you need a new one. not sure how much that would be to replace though.

it could be done by someone knowledgable though...

Re: Pistons

Yes, a bad oil pump or cracked piston skirt is possible. But if that much damage has been done already because of lack of oil, prepare to change out the rod, main and cam bearings. If it's real bad, it can snap the cam in half. Get the oil pressure check, ASAP!!
