hey guys this is my firts sealth and im having prob wit the trans it feel like 2nd and 3rd gear have a hard time going in so what should i do ??

In the order of increasing prices:
1) Live with it 2) Check to see if you have enough hydraulic fluid in the clutch or a leak in one of the clutch cylinders 3) Change the transmission fluid 4) Rebuild the transmission and replace the synchos Seriously though, the synchos on 2nd gear are pretty weak from the factory... Changing to a better transmission fluid might help depending on how worn they are. |

i know how to check the trans fluid but when i put some in there where do i put it in ??

Is this auto or manual?
I didn't think there was a place to "check" trans fluid in manual asside from the fill/drain screws in the transmission... If you are taking about auto then most likely you are feeling the engine jarring when it changes gears with means your motor mounts need replacing. |

my car is auto so where do u fill the fluid ?? but when the car does change gears its all good but for the most part it does not change some times ill stay stuck in 3rd gear so for example i can go on the highway and i stay in 3rd gear so then i pull over and i turn off the car then turn it back on and all the gears work properly. so im jus lost i dont know what the hell is going on.

u fill it in where the dip stick goes. to check the fluid properly let the car warm up to operating temp. then sit there an put it in all the gears, starting with park.. then going back.. then up again til u get on nuetral, an leave it there. then check the level on the dipstick asap. should be right between the 2 lines of hot.
when it gets stuck in 3rd, is it that way after driving it a while? cuz i know on mine it wont shift into 4th until it gets to a certain temperature. sometimes takes a couple minutes.. sometimes it will take about 7 minutes. an what exactly do u mean it has a hard time going into gear? is it slipping.. or just shifts very soft an slow?

it jus stays in 3rd and wount go down or up jus stays there. when it has a hard time is like when i turn on the car every thing is ok but then when i take off it will drag to get out of 1st gear and my rpm will sometimes go up to 5 then jumps into 3rd and stays there

... i think ur transmission is in this certain mode where it doesnt go past 3rd gear.. i have heard about this a lot over on 3si, but i cant remember what it is called

uh..stuck in 3rd is called failsafe mode, I believe.
Its telling you somthing is wrong.

yea, thats it. take it to a dealer or somewhere an have them put it on a computer to see what codes come out. it could possibly be the tcu going out.

Well depending on which year it is, you could pull it yourself, or take it to Autozone (free). Dealerships charge too much. But Autozone will/can only do it if it's a 96+. I believe there are instructions for retrieving codes somewhere on www.stealth316.com
Stop driving your car, it is in failsafe mode for a reason.
