Weird starting problem. 94 3.8
I have a weird starting problem on my 94 Grand Caravan with 3.8. If the car sits for more than a half hour or so, it takes 2-3 attempts of cranking for it to start up. It cranks fine, it just doesn't start right away. As soon as it starts, it runs great. No codes. I just tuned it up, thinking that might be it, but it didn't help. Although it does run better.
I hooked up a fuel pressure guage to the rail. It goes to almost 50 when I turn the key and then it stays around 40 with the car running. As soon as I shut it off, the pressure starts falling off pretty quickly. It takes about 8 seconds for it to go down to zero. Is this normal, or do I possibly have a leaky injector or a bad regulator? Could this be the starting problem? Coil pack was changed a few months back, before I bought the car. |

I think you are on the right track, I dont think the system should bleed off that quick or even that low. I am under the impression that it holds pressure unless something is wrong with the fuel system.

I wonder if it's a problem with the injectors bleeding down, or maybe the fuel pressure regulator. Where should I go from here?
