Crazy Electrical!

Hi, Im wondering what the procedure for troubleshooting why the Hazzard/ Odometer / Break Switch Fuse (15amps) keeps blowing. I cant even test to see if the break lights work because I cant plug a fuse in with out it blowing in my hand!! I know all the bulbs are good now. I just replaced the center 2 bulbs in the midle light over the door but the other bulbs checked out fine!

Also possibly related: The drive selector lever gets stuck in Park because the solonoid will not release! I used to be able to push the hazzard switch in and it would release the park lock. Now the fuse that runs it is blown anyway so I cant use that trick anymore.

any Ideas?

-Chris

Re: Crazy Electrical!

well, it is not the brake LIGHTS themselves. The fuse wouldnt blow until you activated the brake switch. You obviously have a short SOMEWHERE, most likely in the column switch. I dont know if yours has the airbag or not... if it does, ya might want to hook up with someone who knows their way around them.
but Im really thinking youve got a short in your indicator switch,....maybe...
