No Gas Past Fuel Filter

Confirmed gas is getting past the fuel filter yet none to the throttle. My son ran the gas empty twice now. I am not getting any gas to the carb or injectors, whatever you want to call it. I do know it's fuel injected. I can pour a little gas down it and it fires then stops. Are the injectors clogged and can they be cleaned? Hell, I don't even know how to get to them. Any help would be appreciated.

Running the truck empty is so bad for your vehicle. You may have fried the fuel pump. The gas in our tanks acts as a cooalnt for the fuel pump, no fuel means lots of heat. Also, when you run a tank very low or dry it sucks of the crud that buils on the bottom of the tank which can get lodged anywhere in the system. I would test the fuel pump, definitely change fuel filters, beat your son, buy a haynes or chilton to see how to get at the fuel injectors or shell out the money to a good local mechanic and let him do all the work. Bad things can happen from running the truck empty. Make sure you let your son no this and that it is not a game to play.

Prettu much checked the flow of gas and it flows past the filter headed to the injectors but doesn't seem to make it there. I pressed on the accelorator 3 pumps and should smell gas but don't. If I pour a little down the throttle it fires up but then dies. Just how many injectors are there. This is a 1996 Blazer. I am thinking something is clogged but if not could some electrical sensor for the injectors be out?

Re: No Gas Past Fuel Filter

Replace your fuel filter.

Check fuel pressure.

Prime your fuel system properly.

It will take 10-15 key cycles to prime the fuel injection system..

Also, smack your son along the side of the head and tell him to smarten up.

Re: No Gas Past Fuel Filter

I agree with BlazerLT.

There is a test port on the top of the engine toward the rear for you to test for fuel pressure, this will let you know that the fuel is reaching the engine. It looks like a large tire valve with a black cap on it. Your blazer has six injectors inside the intake. The thing that you are calling a carb/injector does nothing other than let air in. There is a sensor on the side that tells the PCM the position of the throttle. The PCM then uses the information to pulse the injectors, which injects the fuel in to the intake. You will not be able to smell it and unless the engine is running, pressing the pedal does nothing.

Here's a thread that I posted with info about your engine and it's injection system:

Re: No Gas Past Fuel Filter

I know, kids seem to know it all. I am letting him figure this one out. My fatherly instincts tell me to help him but he also needs to start being more responsible. 19yrs old and knows it all. Thanks Guys

bad son!!! hmmm... maybe he want a new vehicle. Fuel pumps suck! and well if there is not enough gas the garbage in the tank get sucked into the filter an injectors.... Give your son tylenol and slap him up side the head, specially when you get the bill$$$ to fix
