What's the verdict?

What's the verdict on the newest incarnation of the Eclipse? I have heard a whole lot of NOTHING about this car so far. Went and saw one at a dealer (damn car sales guy said I could drive it when I called him, then, after driving 45 min to get there, he said I couldn't...I was pissed) when they first came out and I didn't like the stance of it at ALL...looks great in pics and on TV, but it looks kinda goofy in person. Needs to be lowered, IMO. How does everyone else like it? Anyone here have one? I haven't seen one on the road, haven't talked to anyone about them, haven't heard anything about it...can't help but think that it's not that great if I still haven't seen one or heard about them...

Re: What's the verdict?

There is a couple of them running around here. I think the dealer has sold like 3-5 of them thus far. I actually did get to test drive the first one that was received here in Boise. It was an Orange GT 6-speed. The damn thing flat out hauled ass. I must say I was extremely impressed with the car. I do agree it does need to be lowered but. I was a nice smooth ride and that mivec 3.8 has got some balls. The damn thing was quick. I actually like the new four 4g better that the EVOVIII. (Didn't make care for the clutch on the EVO VIII). Only thing I don't like is the price. Hell they wanted 32k for it. I could have paid 3k more a got the EVO VIII. The sadest thing is the dealer still has one 05 GTS spyder on the lot and they still want like 33K for it. Hate to tell them that I will probably but lowered a great deal before it will even be looked at with serious attempt. Cause if I had to choose between the 3g and th 4g it would be 4g with out a doubt.

Re: What's the verdict?

The new eclipses are great. I think they look really sweet, especially with the factory body kit that comes with the optional "sports package". Theyve had some pretty good reviews from the critics, everything from the design to the engine. The reason why mitsubishi's always look like they need to be lowered, is because (i have heard) they require all their cars to be fitted with snow chains. Sounds a little ridiculous to me, but thats the way it is. There's an '06 on cardomain with 20" rims. The wheel wells are so massive, i thought they were just 18s until I looked at the description.

Re: What's the verdict?

I did a bit of pokin around the net in my free time today and read a bit about them. Prior to this, all I saw about them was the last 25% or so of a piece about them on Motor Trend television or something like that. They said it understeered like a WHORE and got low 6s to 60...not bad, but not great.

Now...what I don't get is this...the article I read today gave a 0-60 time in the mid 5s...go figure.

That link someone posted in this thread kinda surprised me...dude talking about how the interior of the 350 was bad...NEVER heard that before. I've driven 2 of those and I honestly thought all aspects of the car were top notch...performance, feel, exterior fit and finish, interior fit and finish, etc. Goes to show you how even cars of the same model can vary.

Re: What's the verdict?

Haven't driven a convertable. Both of the ones I drove were coupes. That's what I'd buy, though. I don't want the convertable...something about people being able to get into my car with a pocket knife that just kinda erks me...lol...
