Died! now wont start

Our '92 1.4 CL (ABD) died on us again .
It has had 3 coils in 3 months fitted by the A.A. The previous owner fitted a new distributor and coil. When we got this car it seemed a good deal..'92 Golf with only 54000 on the clock at good price.. but I think the mileage is only low because it never runs .
Anyway this time A.A man appears says coil is fine diagnoses fuel pump says pump is siezed and fuse 18 has no power.Of course fuse 18 only powers up for 2sec's when ignition is switched onand I can hear the pump. A couple of turns with a spanner reveals fuel under pressure at the single point injector block.I can see fuel spraying from the Injector.
The spark seems very weak to me I tried the coil on another Golf and it runs fine.I have replaced the ECM ,cleaned up the earths at front of block, fitted new ignition leads and king lead, run extra earth to coil body, replaced rotor arm and have arrived here I would be glad of any good idears.

Have you tried replacing the ignition switch?

No. but I tried removing the plug from the switch and hotwiring it.
Since my last post I have swapped out the fuel pump relay and the
X post? relays to no effect. There is no relay in position 3 (ECM) but I think that is normal on this model.
I did continuity tests on coil and distributor wiring all good.
A voltage test revealed 12.5 volts at the coil but only 11.22 volts across the distributor plug connections. I considered that the Ignition system may have been losing connection while the starter was engaged so I tried an additional power connection to the ignition circuit still no start.

Still looking for good Idears.

The ignition switch electrical portion is very common failure. The contacts points inside dont fully contact causing no starts, weird electrical problems ect... Try replacing that, its a 60.00 part and you need to also replace the sheer bolt that holds the steering column lock on.
